We have added several new tutors who bring their fresh ideas and our existing tutors have again been working hard on new and different workshops. MONDAY 13TH JANUARY 2020 KNOW YOUR SEWING MACHINE with Lynn Horniblow. You will be shown how to maintain your machine, given advice on the various needles and threads available. How to use straight, stretch zig zag and satin stitches for standard and decorative sewing. The use of a presser foot for quilting, roll and blind hemming, over edging, zip application, piping and buttonholes. You will need to bring your sewing machine in full working order together with the accessories and handbook. Materials will be provided. 10am to 4pm fee £60
MONDAY 27TH JANUARY PATCHWORK TECHNIQUES; DRUNKARDS PATH with Lynn Horniblow. It can be a bit daunting tackling lots of curved seams to form patchwork patterns. During this workshop you will discover how easy it can be to make your own patterns, cut and machine sew blocks to achieve many wavy line patterns, and take your patchwork in new and exciting directions. You will be making sample blocks. Basic sewing machine skills are required. Materials and equipment supplied. 10am to 4pm fee £60
TUESDAY 28TH JANUARY 2020 HAND EMBROIDERED FELT POCKET with Annette Bolton This small fabric bag has many practical uses and is embellished with felt designs, using several interesting techniques. Embroidery, beading and buttons complete the design. All materials and equipment supplied 10am to 4pm fee £60

MONDAY 10TH FEBRUARY 2020 UNDERSTANDING YOUR OVERLOCKER with Lynn Horniblow. Learn how versatile your overlocker can be. Lynn will begin with the basics, threading up and tension adjusting, moving onto decorative finishes and time saving techniques. This workshop is aimed at 4 thread overlockers with adjustable tension dials. You will need to bring your overlocker in full working order together with any accessories and your handbook. All other materials and equipment will be provided. 10am to 4pm fee £65
FRIDAY 14TH FEBRUARY 2020 MACHINE QUILTING with Mary Bird. Machine quilting can be as subtle or as bold as you like. You will learn skills that will enable you to give depth to your patchwork and applique’ or to create beautiful quilted heirloom pieces. We begin by practising quitling in the ditch, outline quilting and other useful patterns, progressing to free machine quilting in order to create lovely free flowing designs and interesting backgrounds. You will take home a portfolio of samples that will become your own reference file. You will need your sewing machine in good working order together with a free embroidery foot, and a walking foot. All other equipment and materials will be provided. 10am to 4pm fee £60
MONDAY 17TH FEBRUARY 2020 PATCHWORK NEEDLE ROLL With Julie Farrow. This needle roll is a quick and easy project that uses the strip piecing method for speed and accuracy, it will keep all your needle packets safe and in one place in divided pockets. Once completed this sweet project can be further embellished by hand or machine, even beads or buttons can be added. Basic sewing machine skills required. Materials and equipment provided 10am to 4pm fee £60
THURSDAY 20TH FEBRUARY 2020 HAND EMBROIDERY ; SCISSORS KEEPER With Annette Bolton. Embroidered scissors keepers are fun to make, and also store your pins ready for use. The designs are pansies, thistle, dragonfly, lavender and ladybird, you can choose which one you would like to embroider. All materials and equipment provided. 10am to 4pm fee £60

FRIDAY 21ST FEBRUARY 2020 FOLD UP TOTE BAG half day workshop with Sylvi Sharp This handy toe bag folds up into its own pouch. When opened up, part of the pouch becomes a useful pocket. Keep one in your handbag for those unexpected purchases. Store a couple in the car and make for friends and family as a gift. Basic sewing machine skills required. All materials and equipment provided. 10am to 1pm fee £30

THURSDAY 5TH MARCH 2020 CRAFT BAG With Julie Farrow Make this roomy craft bag to carry all your goodies to workshops and classes. Measuring 13″ wide 91/2″ high 9″ deep with a large pocket at the back, two pockets at the sides and three pleated full pockets at the front, these will hold all your smaller tools and notions. There are two carry handles which can be made for use over the shoulder. Basic sewing machine skills required. Materials and equipment provided. 10am to 4pm fee £65
MONDAY 9TH MARCH 2020 SEWING JERSEY FABRICS ON YOUR MACHINE With Lynn Horniblow. Stretch fabrics can be a little tricky first time around. During this workshop you will learn how to choose the correct pattern and size, lay and cut the pattern. Discover how to set the sewing machine for stitching, the correct foot, needles and stitches to use. Finally, finishing and pressing, you will then be able to wear your stylish top home. Materials and equipment provided. Basic sewing machine skills required. 10am to 4pm fee £65
FRIDAY 27TH MARCH 2020 HAND EMBROIDERY-STUMPWORK CROCUS With Annette Bolton. A beautiful crocus worked in raised Stumpwork techniques. Hand surface embroidery together with wired shapes, in all of purples or yellows. A lovely project for spring. All materials and equipment provided. 10am to 4pm fee £60

MONDAY 6TH APRIL 2020 MACHINE EMBROIDERED PENTAGONAL CASKET With Lynn Horniblow. Learn how to make a three dimensional vessel using layering techniques and decorative stitches on the sewing machine. The pentagonal casket will be finished with cords, trims and beads all made using the sewing machine; with just a little hand work to finish the construction. Basic sewing machine skills are required. Materials and equipment provided. 10am to 4pm fee £60
FRIDAY 17TH APRIL 2020 HAND EMBROIDERY: REDWORK PINCUSHION With Annette Bolton. Redwork is an American style hand embroidery, using red threads. A simple but effective design is embroidered and embellished with buttons and beads. All materials and equipment provided 10am to 4pm fee £60
FRIDAY 24TH APRIL 2020 PATCHWORK TECHNIQUES:FABRIC LANDSCAPES With Mary Bird Make a small scale applique landscape picture. Create mountains, lakes and fields by using an easy free form cutting techniques. Add hedgerows, trees and other details, then decide whether to stitch the fabrics together by hand or to use invisible machine applique. For the final touch, embroider grasses and flowers in the foreground. All materials and equipment will be provided. 10am to 4pm fee £60
