Machine Quilting

Machine quilting can be as subtle or as bold as you choose to make it. You will learn skills that will enable you to give depth to patchwork and appliqué or to create beautiful quilted heirloom pieces. We begin by practising quilting in the ditch, outline quilting and other useful patterns, progressing to free-machine quilting in order to create lovely flowing designs and interesting stippled backgrounds. At the end of the workshop you will take home a portfolio of samples that will become an invaluable reference file. You will need to bring your sewing machine and accessories, but all other equipment and materials will be provided.

Understanding Your Overlocker

Etui Box

An Etui is a small, decorative box usually used to hold needlework supplies. The sides fold down and smaller boxes nest within the large box. The smallest box in the centre holds your thimble. This little box will help keep your sewing equipment organized and handy. In Victorian times, the lady of the house would attach one to her chatelaine to carry scissors and other small items. ‘Tagliatelle’ Tote Bag

Everybody has loved this technique, and we have received lots of requests to make a larger bag. Amy has kindly obliged by designing a ‘tote’ bag which can hold all the essential items we need for the day! Narrow strips of random-dyed fabrics are machine stitched to a background fabric; this is then used to create the bag, which is fully lined. All materials and equipment will be provided. Transparent Cut Work
